CRAFTBOOK TUTORIAL 1

Red = item
Blue = desription
Green = what you need to type in

Features:

Any feature can be disabled!

Bridges:

Bridges can be made from some materials. There's a default list of allowed materials but your server may have customized it.

  1. Lay a 3-block wide bridge made out of cobblestone, wood, glass, or double step (default) in one direction.
  2. On one side, place a sign post in the center facing away from the bridge. Put [Bridge]as the second line of the sign.
  3. On the other side, put a sign in the same place but have it face the other way. The second line should be [Bridge] as well.
  4. Right click one of the signs.

Gates:

  1. Place a gate made out of fences. To make floating fence pieces (see picture), place blocks up to the place that you want to put the fence piece, put the fence block on top, and then remove the block underneath.
  2. Near the gate somewhere, put a wall sign with the second line saying [Gate].
  3. Right click the sign.

Elevators:

  1. Put a wall sign with the second line containing either [Lift Up] or [Lift Down]depending on which way you want to go when right clicking the sign.
  2. Either directly above or below that sign, depending on the way that you want to go, create an endpoint by putting another wall sign containing [Lift Up][Lift Down], or[Lift]. If you use the first two options, players can also right click this other sign to travel. Using the last sign doesn't let people use it to travel but people can get to this sign from another floor.
  3. Right click the sign.

Light Switch:

  1. Place a wall sign with the second line containing either [I] or [|].
  2. Place a torch or redstone torch above the sign.
  3. Right click the sign.

Plugin Info

Craftbook is a plugin full of useful stuff, made bysk89q. It requires hey0's server mod. Craftbook is used in the server. For more info check the minecraft forums thread here.

Bridges

Make easy wooden bridges! Just put three wood blocks in a row, put a sign on top (facing the way of the crossing) with [Bridge] as the second line, and do the same thing on the other side (with the sign facing back). Right click the sign to toggle the bridge.

Toggle-able Areas

Are those bridges above not enough? Toggle entire areas!

This function requires WorldEdit because it requires selecting cuboids. You only need to use its cuboid selection functions.

Cordon off the area with WorldEdit and then use the /savearea [name of area here] command to save it. Make a sign near the area with [Toggle] as the second line and the name of the area on top.

Book Reading

Just right click a bookshelf. It will load from a craftbook-books.txt file. You may edit that file and add your own lines or replace it altogether. Each "book" goes on its own line. The file can be as big as you want it to be -- CraftBook never loads the entire thing into memory.

Gate Toggle

Make a wall sign near a fence gate with the second line as [Gate]. To toggle the gate, just right click the sign.

Elevator

Make it easy to go from level to level with this nifty elevator. Just make a sign with the second line as [Lift Up] or [Lift Down] and right click it to move between levels. Note that there must be a sign directly above or below the sign you right click on (depending on which way you want to go) in order for the elevator to work. Use [Lift] on the second line of a sign if you just need a placeholder for that purpose. The first line of the sign can be used to say the floor name (it will be printed to chat).

Area Light Switch

This will toggle on the lights in the area on/off (about 10 units away, 5 units up/down). Just make a wall sign with the second line as [|] and have a torch above the sign.

Currently, these are disabled due to interference with redstone circuitry.

Cauldrons

Cauldrons in CraftBook are an alternative way to craft by using the physical placement of blocks in no pattern in a physical "cauldron." It can be used to allow the crafting of impossible to mine or otherwise hard to find materials.

Construction

Example of a cauldron. The cauldron must be 2x2 in size with 4 blocks of lava underneath and smooth stone blocks around the cauldron. Right click any block inside the cauldron to make a recipe.

Some notes:

If the cauldron is built correctly (and CraftBook is working), an error message will be printed to chat when you right click if no recipe is recognized. Recipes can contain water, gravel, and sand, but you must place them so that they don't break the lava.

Cauldron Recepies below

  • Grass: 3 Dirt and 2 Saplings Makes two grass per batch.
  • Leaves: 2 Grass and 2 Saplings Makes 8 leaves per batch.
  • Mossy Cobblestone: 2 Leaves and 2 Cobblestone Makes 2 Mossy Cobblestone per batch.
  • Gold Sword: 2 Red Flowers , 2 Brown Mushrooms or Red Mushrooms and 4 Unlit pumpkins. Makes a Gold Sword.

Apple Trees

Every time you destroy leaves, you may get an apple dropped for you to pick up. This chance can be adjusted inside craftbook.properties (the file is created when you first run CraftBook). Use a number between 0 and 100, with 100 being a 100% chance. This is the most annoying feature of craftbook, anyone trying to remove any amount of trees can attest to this.

Bookshelf Drops

Every time you destroy a bookshelf, you will get a bookshelf item.

Preventing Item Farming: Using Chests

In craftbook.properties, change block-bag to nearby-chests in order to force CraftBook get items from nearby chests. Note that chests must have at least one item to begin with (to work around a bug). Note that in some cases, such as with the gate, if it runs out of fences while building it, you may up with a weird gate that you have to fix manually.
